3RD YEAR
Palliative
1. Since I just completed my chronic placement on the palliative unit, a goal for my acute placement this upcoming semester would be to do more catheters. I only had the opportunity to do one catheter on an individual this semester, and im not comfortable in my ability to perform it yet.
2. A goal would be to become more comfortable with death and the dying process. I know this is a hard transition, and I may never become comfortable. But it is important to not involve your emotions and to accept that they are not suffering anymore.
Medical and Surgical
1. A goal for my pre-consolidation placement is to become more independent and confident in my clinical judgement. From this placement, I understand the importance of understanding my clients overall plan of care and I will continue to work on linking lab results, diagnostics and my assessment to understand my clients overall clinical picture.
2. Another goal for this placement is to continue building upon my knowledge of pharmacotherapeutics. This means continuing to understand mechanisms of actions, contraindications, and adverse effects.
